The Price of Freedom? $1200

Hello world! It’s been a minute, and things have changed SIGNIFICANTLY since my last post. We are now living in a world with much more fear and much less freedom than we were back during my last post in November ’18. That seems par for the course unfortunately, and those in charge do not appear ready or willing to give any of those powers back to WE THE PEOPLE. Now, I started writing this post a year and a half ago. At that time, our national debt stood at $21.7 trillion. The debt clock now shows that we are $24.8 trillion in the hole, and I’d bet that we’re honestly closer to $30 trillion after you figure in the unrealized and undocumented debts that are kept secret from the general public. That $1200 check that most of us got during the COVID-19 pandemic was part of a $2.2 trillion bailout of mostly large corporations, including banks, airlines, hotels, auto manufacturers and others, not necessarily for the Coronavirus but more so for 12 years of irresponsible corporate finance policies that left them severely unprepared for a crisis such as this. These “Too Big to Fail” corporations have unfortunately become dependent on government bailouts when they are losing money, and this is just the latest in a long line of wealth transfers from taxpayers to corrupt corporations that are in the pockets of politicians. The bailout was also used to toss some money to our representatives favorite organizations, such as the $25 million to the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. Also, I hope you took notice of how many government employees were laid off or lost their jobs and pay (few, if any) while we were all begging them for scraps. They simply do not care about us and only look out for themselves, and that tiny check we received was the smallest amount they figured they could pay to keep us from protesting the largest taxpayer theft in recorded history. That $1200 initially cost each person in the country upwards of $6600, and will be much more once you factor in the inflation and additional taxation we’re going to have to pay down the road. That is YOUR agreed price for your constitutional rights and freedoms.

The biggest contributors to the soaring national debt are: Healthcare Programs, including Medicare and Medicaid ($1.1 trillion); Social Security Programs and Government Pensions ($1 trillion); and National Defense (currently $1.1 trillion). These are the 3 that in the past have been the most hotly debated among Democrats and Republicans, although in these days it’s tough to tell the differences between the 2 major parties opinions on them. This crisis has representatives from both sides of the aisle teaming up to expand the governments control over all things healthcare related, even after the bitter fights over the constitutionality of “Obamacare” just a few years ago. Through our tax dollars, we are now funding the government response to containing this pandemic, and the only thing we’ve gotten out of it is misguided information from our clueless representatives and unconstitutional lockdowns while they try to figure out what to do. They’re not doctors, and even the “experts” that they are getting their information from are all given special privileges for speaking the government narrative. Fear is a very effective tool for convincing people to give up their freedoms, and this is just another example of the government using this tactic against it’s citizens. The government “experts”, aided by the corrupt media, wildly exaggerated the facts about this virus to take away your constitutional rights. A large section of the economy was closed down by the government, costing millions of people their jobs, most who are already living paycheck to paycheck.

Your First Amendment right of Freedom to Express Religion, Speech, and Assembly were taken when your government forced you to stay in your homes. In parts of the country, your Fourth Amendment right against Unreasonable Search and Seizure were taken when people were forced into testing for the virus or taken from their homes and thrown into quarantine against their will. Your Sixth and Seventh Amendment rights to a speedy trial and trial by jury have been waived, and people who have been arrested for crimes during this pandemic have not been given dates for trials since everything is shut down, even though court officials are still being paid to do nothing. These extended jail times violate your Eighth Amendment rights against Cruel and Unusual Punishment. Your Tenth Amendment right, which leaves powers not explicitly granted to the Federal government to the individual states, has all but disappeared when Congress bought the consent of you, as well as the unexpressed consent of your children and grandchildren who will also be paying for this additional debt, for a measly $1200 handout. You gave up your rights for nothing except more debt and hardship down the road.

There’s no easy way to put this, but surviving this tough period only by accepting handouts from our rulers will only make the next downturn in the economy tougher. The national debt will only continue to grow larger, your freedoms smaller, taxes will have to be higher and demand for government intervention into everyday life will be greater. Not to mention, the government now sees just how easy it was to make you willingly give this up, and knows it will be even easier during the next disaster. The rights that have been taken will not be given back, because those in charge are not known for their generosity and power only continues to corrupt. Your best bet is to do everything you can to become financially independent, refusing to sellout to the government, and try to force change along the way so that we can save what’s left of this great country for the generations that will follow us.
